Powells delivered the full interior fit-out and refurbishment of Cartier’s prestigious six-storey flagship boutique in London’s Mayfair. Spanning New Bond Street and Albemarle Street, this Grade II listed building was transformed into what Vogue described as a “church of craftsmanship.”

The scope included work across all six levels of the building:

  • Basement – Executive offices and vault

  • Ground Floor – Boutique retail space

  • First Floor – High-end jewellery display and client area

  • Second FloorLa Résidence: a private VIP apartment with kitchen, lounge, boudoir-inspired restroom and bespoke twin marble basins

  • Third Floor – Watch repair workshop

  • Fourth Floor – Cartier’s archive

Key works included:

  • Restoration of ornate fibrous plasterwork, original fireplaces, intricate hardwood panelling, and historic wrought ironwork

  • Installation of bespoke Italian marble and millwork, segmented marble and parquet flooring, and custom chandeliers

  • Creation of exclusive client spaces including the Jacques Cartier and Charles de Gaulle Salons

  • Integration of discreet high-spec technology, AV systems, and lighting

  • Sensitive external restoration, including façade cleaning and roof works, in accordance with heritage status

  • Live Environment: Delivered an exquisite, high-end spec finish, in keeping with Cartier’s global brand reputation. 

  • Design Revisions: After completion of four phases, a leadership and architectural change led to a full redesign and project pause. Powells returned to complete the revised works over a final 38-week programme

  • Listed Building Constraints: Required careful liaison with Westminster Council and specialist restoration methods to preserve original architectural elements
